Pokat is a workspace that helps a freelancer and their client move a project from brief to signed approval to payment. Read this so you know exactly what Pokat is — and, just as importantly, what it is not.
Pokat is software, not a financial institution
Pokat is a software product. It is not a bank, payment institution, escrow agent, broker, or money transmitter, and it does not provide banking, investment, or money-transmission services. Pokat is not a party to the agreement between a freelancer and their client, and it does not employ, vet, or represent either of them.
We never control your funds
Pokat's only on-chain role is as the destination for its own platform fee, which is split off automatically inside the contract's release transaction. Pokat has no signing authority over the principal at any point.
We do not verify or vouch for the work
Pokat does not check, verify, approve, rate, or guarantee the quality, accuracy, legality, or fitness of any work delivered through it. Any file listing or “delivery manifest” Pokat shows is descriptive only — it tells you what files are present, not whether they are any good. You are responsible for reviewing a deliverable yourself before you accept it and release payment.
Transak handles the money rails
Fiat payments and the conversion to crypto are processed by Transak, a third-party provider acting as Merchant of Record. Transak — not Pokat — performs identity verification (KYC/AML), processes your card or bank payment, and is responsible for chargebacks and payment rejections. Your use of Transak is governed by Transak's own terms and privacy policy.
Crypto risk
- Blockchain transactions are generally irreversible. A confirmed on-chain transfer cannot be undone by Pokat.
- Stablecoins (e.g. USDC) aim to track a fiat currency but can deviate; their value and redeemability are not guaranteed by Pokat.
- Network congestion, gas costs, smart-contract bugs, and chain outages are risks inherent to public blockchains.
- Sending to a wrong or incompatible wallet address can cause permanent loss. Always confirm the destination.
The 14-day auto-release
Escrowed funds can be released two ways: the buyer releases them, or — if no dispute is raised — an on-chain timer releases them automatically 14 days after delivery. This timer is part of the contract you agree to before paying, and the countdown is visible in the portal. After the window, the release can be triggered by anyone; it is not a key held by Pokat.
Not legal, financial, or tax advice
Nothing in Pokat or its documentation is legal, financial, accounting, or tax advice. You are responsible for your own tax reporting and for complying with the laws that apply to you.
No guarantee of availability
Pokat is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. See the Terms of Service for the full limitation of liability.
